With Smile 3D, your teeth are straightened painlessly and easily using a series of custom-made, removable aligners which move your teeth, little by little, until they reach the ideal position.
Each aligner is worn for 2-3 weeks before moving on to the next one. The aligners are clear and slimline, so they won’t affect your speech and no one will even notice you’re wearing them
Smile 3D starts with an initial consultation with your dentist or orthodontist who will evaluate your smile and customise a digital treatment plan. In this appointment, the dentist will discuss your treatment goals and take scans of your mouth. Photographs and X-rays may be taken at this stage too.
The scans are sent to a laboratory where a digital treatment plan will be created. When the dentist is happy with your treatment plan, a link will be sent to you to view*. At this stage the dentist will inform you of the cost and approximate treatment length. They’ll also give you a consent form to sign.
Once you approve your plan, your unique aligners will be created. An appointment will be made to have your aligners fitted.
*Smile 3D Go! is for very small corrections and no visuals will be sent.
During your treatment, it’s important to attend regular follow-up appointments with your dentist. Additional scans or impressions may be taken at different stages of your treatment.
You will wear each set of aligners for approximately 20-22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 2-3 weeks, or directed by your dentist.
As a general rule, you should only remove your aligners when you want to eat, drink or brush your teeth. The more you wear them, the shorter your treatment time will be.
It’s important to wear your aligners as prescribed by your dentist. Moving through your aligners too quickly or not wearing them consistently can cause future aligners not to fit correctly. This could add additional time and cost to your treatment plan.
We recommend you keep all previous aligners just in case the next aligner in your sequence does not fit correctly. If this happens, visit your dentist with your previous aligners as soon as possible.
Your aligners must be looked after carefully. To clean them, we recommend using the cleansing powder sachets provided in your kit. Never immerse them in hot water or steam them as they will distort. When not in use, keep your aligners in a protective retainer box, or in the original packaging. Do not discard any of your aligners until your treatment is complete.
